1. SELECT A BOOK
Look for a new book you've never read. Here are some places online to start your search for a book to read:
Award Winners and Best Sellers
2. READ YOUR BOOK! Preview the book review section below and use post-it notes to keep track of important plot events, character descriptions, favorite lines, new vocabulary, etc.
3. REVIEW YOUR BOOK Your book review should be completed on a sheet of 8 ½ x 11 white printer paper. It will contain three parts.
Part 1: Begin with adding the required information about your book.The title and author
Genre (fantasy, mystery, science fiction, realistic fiction, nonfiction…)
Synopsis/plot summary (your own, not the publishers. Check out the synopses on the following site for inspiration:

Part 2: Choose at least three of the writing elements.

- Rate your book, then add 2 sentences stating why you gave this rating (star rating, thumbs up/down, recommend/wouldn’t recommend, or make up your own scale)
- Who would like it/Who wouldn’t like it - add 2-3 sentences describing why you think this
- Read-alikes (or movies and TV shows like the book) - add 2-3 sentences describing why you think this
- Favorite line(s) from the book - add 2-3 sentences describing why you think this New vocabulary/the most beautiful words in the novel - 2 sentences describing why you think this
- How the book made you feel - write 2-3 sentences describing why you think this
Part 3: Choose at least one of the visual elements.

- Design a graphic (usually incorporating the cover, your star rating, and some other basic info)
- Pick a scene in the book and recreate it (Ex. If the scene is a girl reading her book in her room, transform your room to make it look like it or if the conflict is a duel, have your little sibling have a fake sword fight with you.)
Don’t forget to take a picture!

4. SEEK FEEDBACK. Hand this assignment sheet and your finished work to a person you trust for honest advice. Revise as necessary.
Examples:
